Air Fryer Garlic Wings

Chicken wings are one of the most American foods around – with the original Buffalo Wings coming all the way from Buffalo, NY in 1964. In 2019 alone, U.S. Citizens consumed an astounding 942.5 million servings of wings. With the Air Fryer taking the American market by storm (and rightly so!) it’s only fitting that the Air Fryer should revolutionize the way we do wings!

What I love the most about wings is their versatility – these wings are no different. They are truly amazing on their own without any dipping sauce, but because of the garlic they accompany almost any dipping sauce perfectly: honey mustard, ranch, ketchup, buffalo … the list could go on.

These wings can definitely be made in a traditional oven – and they are still delicious! There is a trade off though – it will take longer and they will not be as crispy. There are oven instructions at the bottom of this recipe.

So lets get cooking! These wings will be sure to please your family, friends and are perfect to serve at any party! Don’t be afraid to get creative with your own spices and sauces – that’s what cooking is all about!

  • Air Fryer

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Air Fryer Instructions

  • Take your chicken wings and clip off the tips. Once done, cut them at the joint to turn the full wing into a smaller wing and a small drumstick. When done, place all of them into a ziploc bag.
  • In the bag, add the olive oil and the juice from the 1/2 lemon. Toss for about one minute to ensure that it is well mixed.
  • Lay the chicken wings out on a plate. Mix all seasonings together in a small bowl.
  • Season each wing very well and flip them, seasoning the underside too. Preheat your air fryer to 400°.
  • Place the wings carefully on your air fryer racks - be careful that they do not touch.
  • Air fry for 8 minutes, removing them to flip the wings over. I usually switch the trays places to ensure consistent heating throughout the cooking process. Air fry for another 8 minutes.
  • Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes (so that the juices redistribute and they are not dry). Serve hot - either on their own (delicious) or your favorite dipping sauce!

Oven Instructions

  • Follow the preparation advice as above and preheat the oven to 400°
  • Bake wings for 40-45 minutes. Flip them at the 20 minute mark. Be careful to make sure the seaonings do not burn.
  • Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes (so that the juices redistribute and they are not dry). Serve hot - either on their own (delicious) or your favorite dipping sauce!
